In a bid to take advantage of increasingly adventurous Chinese online shoppers who are buying directly from foreign websites to get better prices on high-quality merchandise, Alipay, China's largest e-payments provider, has been cutting deals to get non-Chinese e-tailers to adopt it as a payment option.
To help promote its services during a special overseas shopping event held last week, Alipay, which now settles transactions in 14 currencies and 34 countries, created this infographic containing some interesting stats surrounding the company's growing cross-border business. Of note: the U.S. is now the top destination for Chinese consumers who shop online overseas using Alipay. (The infographic has been translated into English from its original Mandarin by Alizila.) Enjoy.
